For those who have never heard of it, notebooking is simply a fun way of recording or organizing what you are studying. Instead of filling in bland workbooks or multiple choice questions, we record and organize our information into notebooks. A Nature Study/Science notebook might have nature journal pages, drawings of collections, nature poetry, narration biographies of scientists; you get the idea. A Bible Notebook might have sermon notes, list of verses memorized, charts of the parables, charts of the miracles of Jesus, charts of the apostles, etc. Your creativity is the limit. Cindy Rusthon has lots of ideas and suggestions on getting started.

Below are some ideas for notebook pages to help as well. Fell free to save and use for personal use.

BASEBALL CARD SHEET

I designed this baseball form for my son. He has always had an aversion to writing, so on days that were very difficult, we would work on simple things. He used this to record his baseball cards, research their value and organize them to his specifications.

MY BOOK OF STATES

This form was used by my daughter during a study of the 50 states. She used this sheet to record pertinent data, and added maps, biographies, etc. to complete her notebook.

MY BOOK OF PRESIDENTS

This was a notebook page to record my daughter's study of the presidents. Not only did she learn a little about each president, she also learned a great deal about government, history, etc. We actually used a workbook from Sam's as the basis, and then added our own research with library books, the internet, etc.

FAVORITE RECIPES

This is another notebook idea if you have a child that likes to cook. Simply have her keep a list of favorite recipes and instructions on how to make it. A great starter for those wishing to make a keepsake for future reference.

Experiment Report

Notebook page to record a science expirement.

How to Project

How to Project for Older Students

Each year, my children like to make a project or craft to enter in our state fair. This form helps us to record and save our project instructions.

SPECIAL FIELD TRIPS

Notebook page to record special field trips. For younger children.

ONE PAGE TIMELINE FOR BIOGRAPHY

This is a one page timeline to be used for a biography report or history notebook.

Vocabulary

Notebook page to record vocabulary words. Can be used as a general guide or for a specific study.
